PERSOMA P.C. ... [per...SOMA] A recognition of the mind-body connection.
PERSOMA P.C. is a group psychological practice established in 1985 by a group of therapists who shared some basic values. These values continue to define the philosophy of the practice today. First and foremost is a respect for people — a respect for both the client as an individual and a respect for the challenging process of change. The task of therapy is change and the manner takes on many forms; however, the underlying belief is one of honoring the person, the family and the process. As a therapist, it is a privilege to be invited to take part in the journey. This privilege includes an ethical responsibility to protect the client and to provide a quality service.
A critical component of therapy is a non-judgmental approach to the individual and family. Beyond this is the concept of inclusion. People, their differences and similarities, are affirmed and respected, not just accepted. These may include racial, ethnic, religious, cultural, age, gender, sexual minority and physically challenged differences.
